When I first began shooting weddings, I was naive. I thought great weddings would be at high end hotels with over the top decor. They still can be, but what I've come to realize more and more, it's not about the venue, or the dress, or the decor, but the couples love and their commitment to each other. Jenn and Mike were NO exception. I knew when we first Skyped, that I had to shoot their wedding! Jenn's parents ran a ministry in Jacksonville called YWAM and for a long time both Jenn and Mike work in the ministry too. I knew that their wedding was going to be a Holy Spirit filled one, but I never knew how this day was going to impact me. When Tiffani and I arrived, we were greeting with hugs and appreciation. All of their friends and family were helping set up the ceremony decor and reception details. The day was going great but as Jenn started walking down the aisle, the skies opened up and began to rain. I've been a part of weddings where the rain had changed the plans of the day. Not this one, they just ran with it. It rained almost the entire ceremony, and it's was incredible. Not one guest left, no one complained, because they understood why they were there - witnessing this commitment. Their reception got moved under the porch and inside the house instead of being on the lawn. Portrait time was shot in the rain and mud; why? Because Jenn and Mike didn't care and they trusted me. This is one of my favorite weddings ever, because of all of this. The genuine joy and love of The Lord seen through Jenn, Mike, and all of their guests will forever be etched in my mind. I knew that we were the perfect fit and that their day was going to be epic, but this one blew me away!! And I need to give it up to Tiffani Jones for being there, like always, but this wedding wouldn't have been the same without you!
